An inspirational blog for Voice Over Artists, Musicians, Friends and much much more!

THA FACE is a great new  movement created by two very creative and talented friends of mine, Mukta Cholette and Stefan Rollins.  Intended to make people smile and in their own words, they call us to join the movement:

“Tha FACE is simply life transforming. It has been scientifically proven by non-scientists that if you wear Tha FACE a few minutes every day, it will enhance your energy level, reduce your wrinkles and increase world peace. Do it, your face will thank you!”

Using the video media,  they create, film and edit the videos. I enclose their latest work of laughing art and in this one, yours truly being… the mother.  Enjoy!  By the way, if you need a good scream, call me!

One last thing, sign up for THA FACE’s website and do tha face! www.ThaFace.com

Accent Reduction Anyone?

I was at an AFTRA workshop a few weeks ago. Being French Canadian, having worked all over the world picking up accents and in the USA for 20 years, I have cocktail of accents and have work really hard *and still am* at getting that perfect American Accent just like the CNN hosts. So, I walk in the L.A. AFTRA meeting room and much to my surprise, 70% of the people are… Americans!!! Mid-West, Boston, Chicago, New York, Queens, Alabama and the list goes on.
The veil was lifted: you don’t have to be from out of the USA to work hard at getting the midstream accent. Amazing as it was to experience it, I felt a load of preconceptions falling away such as being from another country you NEED to get that American accent… well you are not alone!

Still practicing!
the this that though think… did don’t does debt doubt, which what where whilst…

I got the reminder to write about my AFTRA moment when I saw this article in the New York Times this morning. A must read about Accent Reduction!:

Unlearning to Tawk like a New Yorker

Bravo!  Yet another installment from “Melody Street” where yours truly is lending her voice to “Heidi Horn”.  We all hope this great show with Ethan Bortnick gets picked up.  Send good vibes that it does!

Melody Street’s site is at: http://www.melodystreet.com/INDEX/live/

I remember seeing the world wide acclaimed dance troupe “Pilobolus” in Montreal years ago.  It was like being ushered in a magical and mysterious cocoon of the dance world.  I was profoundly moved and left not only speechless but it seemed like they were expressing a part of me and somewhere inside I was saying “Yes!”.

I felt wrapped in their movements, their fluidity and gently rocked in their symbiotic dance.

They are simply breathtaking.

They are so beautiful.

This is like getting a cold shower. Our children will be living 10 years less than we are because of their diet.

Did you know that America is the unhealthiest country in the world? And that because of our eating habits? That Virginia is the no. 1 unhealthiest state?

Sure. We have been “hearing” about it. Them. Other. No no no. Our children. The next generation. Our heir.

I was absolutely stunned at seeing children not knowing the name of vegetables. And this goes hand in hand with the fact that children will not eat the food you put in front of them if they don’t know what it is.

See, I love to cook and I love children. I think Jamie Oliver is an awesome and adorable chef. Now, he is a man with an awesome mission and becoming nothing short of a hero.

And he is on Fire. Take in some of his light. Then, pass it on.

I love J.K. Rowling.

From the first time I have heard of her, I was amazed at her life story and yet did wonder about who she really was.

After hearing an interview with J.K. Rowling, I was not only impressed but touched. Touched by her simplicity coupled with her immense talent. It was only fitting for her to give the 2008 Commencement speech at Harvard.

Give yourself the time and gift to hear J.K.’s advice on the fringe benefits of failing. Her life experience shared with acute intelligence and lightheartedness is not only captivating, but makes you want to listen more to what she has to say.

The youtube video has the first 10 minutes and to go directly to the Harvard website to see in its entirety go to:

J.K. Rowling Speaks at Harvard Commencement from Harvard Magazine on Vimeo.

I find this completely enchanting.

I have just discovered this video with Itay Talgam giving a workshop on leading as a conductor; how to bring a sense of cohesiveness when working with a group while still enjoying the process, hence bringing together great team work.

Sounds familiar?

La Vie En Rose!

I love love love La Vie en Rose!
I love singing it, listening to it and this is most unusual and sweet way I have heard it performed yet. With Thomas Dolby no less and Rachelle Garniez. Edith must be smiling above.

This is such a different, funny and! educational video (do remember that when you watch it will you?) that I thought it would be not only fabulously information but… leave us all with that funny smirk on our faces.  Viewer discretion advised. Ah la la!

“Bonk” author Mary Roach delves into obscure scientific research, some of it centuries old, to make 10 surprising claims about sexual climax, ranging from the bizarre to the hilarious. (This talk is aimed at adults. Viewer discretion advised.)

Well it’s hot and I am still trying to work out getting a videocam and start my own video blog gig and and and… got on Ted.com (again!) and found two videos I love: one about 10 things you did not know about orgasm (based on research and oh. so. funny! but will have to be a late night post) and this one which is all sparks and smiles.  Nellie Kay is that spark.

Ok now. Time to put the fan on, get the Friday afternoon cocktail and watch Nellie. Oh. and Sign up for my blog darling!
